Over a period of years the fynbos has been restored to its natural state by undertaking a burning schedule and continuous removal of all invasive alien vegetation. Fynbos is a collective term which describes the vegetation indigenous to the Southern Cape and includes well-known plant species such as proteas and ericas. In 2001 Fynbos Ridge was proclaimed a Private Nature Reserve by the Western Cape Nature Conservation Board. Many birds, butterflies and small mammals have now made Fynbos Ridge their home.Steps we have taken to protect the environment and conserve natural resources include:
Annually we calculate our carbon footprint and plant trees to offset this. Our guests are also encouraged to contribute to this initiative. |
